Welcome to the Distributed Algorithms Group
Welcome to the home page of the Distributed Algorithms Group (AG Verteilte Algorithmen) at the Department of Computer Science. Founded in 2003, the group is headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Peter Merz (Juniorprofessor).
Short Description of DAG Activities
World-wide networks such as the Internet enable fundamentally new applications due to cooperation of distributed organizations. By sharing resources over the Internet, scientific work can be accelerated drastically in physics, biology, chemistry or computer science itself. Peer-to-peer overlay networks provide a very promising basis for global cooperation, but yet, many challenging research questions are to be addressed.
The Distributed Algorithms Group currently focuses on middleware for distributed computing in peer-to-peer overlay networks as well as distributed algorithms suitable for running in a peer-to-peer environment. Several issues such as fault-tolerance, security, trust and incentive mechanisms are considered.
